interior aroundThe holiday home "Gemma" is part of a seventeen century villa immersed in nature, surrounded by the many beauties of the Chianti region. It is close to Florence and Siena (approx. half an hour drive).
This apartment, where the owners lived for a long time, tells of country life. The old pottery, the wooden utensils hanging on the wall and the big old-fashioned fireplace make it cosy and welcoming.
The living-room covered by a vaulted ceiling leads onto a small private garden with table and chairs, which is ideal for having breakfast and lunch in the shade of the pergola.
The bedroom on the first floor has one of the best views of the estate.
The holiday homes "Gemma" and "Il Noce" belong to the farm "Il Pino". "Il Pino" is a small farming estate 20 km south of Florence, in the area in which the Chianti Classico wine is produced. The property owes its name to the majestic pine-tree on the top of the small hill, close to the seventeenth-century villa where the owners live. All around are vineyards and olive groves. The wines and the olive oil may be bought directly from the sellers of the estate.
"Il Pino" is within walking distance (a few hundred meters) from the village Mercatale in Val di Pesa, which offers several shopping facilities. The life of the village centres around the charming terracotta-paved square, where you can take the bus to Florence (about 45 minutes).
A small market takes place every Thursday morning on the village square. At the same time "Il Pino" offers the tranquillity of a vacation in the countryside with beautiful view over the hills and the valley underneath. The guests may choose between two apartments, one, "Gemma", in the villa and the other, "Il Noce", in a recently renovated hayloft, which is separated from the villa by an "aia" (Tuscan open-paved courtyard). Both apartments have a private garden.
